Snow!

While this wasn't Mickey's first experience with snow, the storm the DC-area got in December was a big one. The snow was over my knees in the low areas (I didn't even attempt to make my way through the thigh high areas). Needless to say, this was a challenge for Mickey. I had to carry him into the street to find places that only had a few inches of snow so he could do his business. He wanted to get back inside so badly that he wouldn't take the easier packed down path and instead would try to make his own direct line to our stairs. These pictures are from the first hours of the storm, so he was still able to muscle his way through the powder. By the end of the day he would just run in place, working himself deeper into the pile of snow with each jump. I would pick him up and carry him back to our stairs, trying my best to keep my own balance!

Ooof.
I know the stairs are somewhere under here...
Are you coming? Its nuts out here..

For those of you who think, "Okay, Mickey is a small dog, any amount of snow is going to look like a blizzard. You're just exaggerating." I present this evidence of our car.

And we're back!

I am ready to start blogging again! I am now home on a leave of absence from work to take some classes and a big test. Now I get to see Mickey seven days a week! Also, I have a new digital camera. I lost my battery charger for my old one sometime in December and didn't have the juice to blog about Mickey's winter break.
====================================
Mickey caught kennel cough in our last few days in New Jersey. He couldn't go to doggy daycare and had to stay at the hotel. We went to the vet and got meds and Mickey slept through the rest of his time at the Westin. While I know he wasn't happy to be sick, I think he was relieved that he didn't have to go to doggy daycare. Of course he was even more relieved when we got back home!

The experience at the hotels (Westin and Sheraton) was fantastic. Mickey stayed for free at the Sheraton and the Westin was $50 for the entire stay. Mickey quickly learned that getting into the elevator and sitting down earned him a treat. I was also very grateful that his house-training carried over to hotel-training. No accidents! Mickey enjoyed smelling the beds provided by the hotels (for free).
Why do you need a picture of everything that we do?

He didn't really ever curl up on the beds, he enjoyed curling up on my dirty laundry much better.
